Content creator and political satirist, Kevin Chinedu Arua popularly known as Kevinblak has alleged that he turned down offers to campaign for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

Kevinblak, who gained fame for his portrayal of ‘Governor Amuneke’, a fictional corrupt politician, stated this in a video shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

He displayed messages allegedly sent by loyalists of the president seeking to recruit him into Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

In the 13-minute video, Kevinblak said he deliberately avoided donning his character’s costume to prevent his message from being taken as a joke.

He said, “You see the type of videos that I post and you have mind to send me this type of message to join the campaign for Tinubu.

“For some seconds, I reflected deeply about myself. How have I presented myself? Do people look at me and say, ‘Oh! He’s just like one of them and we can just give him money and change his life and then he’ll start ranting’ and all of that.”

The Enugu State-born content creator said the messages were “quite disturbing” for him.

However, he rejected allegations of targeting President Bola Tinubu with his content.

Kevinblak read one of the messages from his phone which said, “I’ve been watching your content and you’re not impressing me. You’re only using your content to fight my leader, President Tinubu. I just want you to know that President Bola Tinubu is bigger than mere comedy.”

Responding, the comedian said, “First of all, he is not just your leader. He is our leader. He is the president of this country, even though he’s forced on us.”

He maintained that his content is about fighting bad governance and not directed at any individual.

“My content is bigger than Tinubu. It’s bigger than Nigeria. It’s for the entire Africa, for a better Africa politically for us all.

“That is what gave birth to the type of content that I do,” he added.

Kevinblak noted that he would keep doing his political satire content even when things improve on the continent so as to address “loopholes”.

Another message read by the comedian stated, “Join us and I’ll open you up to offers bigger than Facebook crumbs that you earn.

“Join the league of dollars and campaign for Tinubu.”

Kevinblak emphasised that he did not take up good governance advocacy content for offers.

“Before the era of Governor Amuneke, I already had videos doing numbers on Facebook – 100m, 90m, 40m views,” he stressed.

He  declared, “This is my humble reply: I will never be a part of this injustice done to my people. I will never be a part of people who do not have provision for education, healthcare, water and the basic amenities.”
