NationalChairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, yesterday, assured that voters would prioritise tangible achievements over empty rhetoric when choosing leaders in the 2027 elections.

Speaking at the Progressive Governors’ Forum-Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit, themed, “Taking Renewed Hope to the Grassroots: One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation Framework,” Yilwatda brushed aside opposition parties’ efforts to weaponise President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms against the ruling party.

“In 2027, Nigerians will not vote noise. Rather, they will vote the results they will see on the streets and across the country,” the APC chairman stated.

He noted that rivals were banking on short-term pains from reforms, adding, “The opposition always hope that our difficult reforms will weaken us, rather than distract the party. They are waiting for temporary discomfort. They refuse to acknowledge the long-term benefits to this country.”

He spotlighted key infrastructure wins under the administration, such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, Badagry-Sokoto Road, featuring over 300 irrigation dams, the Red Line Rail, and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline; the biggest and most expensive project ever in the country. He bemoaned inadequate publicity making the government’s efforts invisible.

“Good governance without communication is invisible. I’ve visited many states. I’ve seen beautiful projects, beautiful things being done, but they’re invisible and not communicated.

“Communication without structure is noise. Politics without grassroots mobilisation is organised defeat. That is why we have a structure today that we’re building, and I know that today is the beginning of our victory,” the chairman argued.

The summit, he said, would boost communication of the Renewed Hope agenda and solidify structures for 2027 success. He urged unity, stressing, “One party means one message, no contradictory narratives, no internal sabotage and no freelance communication.

“When the President speaks, let the governors re-import it. When the governors deliver, let the ambassadors amplify it. When the party decides, let the members defend it. Unity is not optional. Unity is strategic power as a party,” he emphasised.

Describing the APC as a movement of purpose and progress by the progressives, not a coalition of convenience, he affirmed the party’s bold path, saying, “the party has chosen reform over rhetoric, restructuring over recycling of failure, and building the economy and making reforms over cosmetic solutions.

“History does not reward hesitation but rewards conviction. Today marks the beginning of our conviction as a party and as a people to move this party forward. As a party, we’re full of courage because the President has courage in abundance.”

The event drew Renewed Hope Ambassadors from 36 states and the FCT, zonal coordinators and federal executive council members.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, Progressive Governors’ Forum chairman is the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Director-General, while zonal coordinators include Senator Anyim Pius Anyim (South-East), Senator Tanko Al-Makura (North Central), Isa Yuguda (North East), Senator Ifeanyi Okowa (South-South), Senator Adedayo Adeyeye (South-West) and Aminu Masari (North-West).
